Kea is a beautiful island of Cyclades. It is the first western inhabitable island of Cyclades and it is interesting that there exists one of the biggests bays of Mediteranean, St. Nikolas bay.
Kea is an island great for a relaxing vacation, where someone can enjoy a refreshing walk at its marvelous alleys, a wonderful swim in its crystal clear water and of course a delicious meal! We recommend visiting Kea, for a quick trip. Since Kea is really close to Athens, it is so easy for someone to get away from his/her tiring routine and enjoy a perfect 2-night stay in this astonishing island.
For your information, the most popular beaches are the following: Spathi, Oggias and Koundouros, which is also awarded with a blue flag. Except from the relaxing walks and swims, Kea is known for its rich history, which you can find in Kea's archaeological sites. More specifically, the sights of Kea are: Leontas, St. Marina's Tower and the Historical TownhallErnst Ziller. Moreover, it would be better to visit island's Archaeological Museum, if you want to learn everything about Kea's history.
We cannot miss mentioning the famous Fairytales Festival! Every year, a Fairytales Festival is organized in Kea and this event is the oldest one of its kind in Greece. To be more specific, many artists, not only greeks, take part in the event and everyone goes there to marvel at their performances, theaters, book presentations and many more. Every act has to do with fairytales and legends, in order to spread the cultural heritage of Kea.
As for the food, be advised that you can find countless restaurants and taverns with traditional food, especially in Korrisia's port. There are many local products, such as honey, tomatoes, figs etc. but try not to miss "loza" (it resembles prociutto) and Kea's sausage. Trust us!
